SLDLP #5 – 11/25/2018

Thanksgiving, not Wastegiving!
On November 25th, 2018, 290 volunteers gathered to support environmental protection and give thanks to the underprivileged.
Ahead of the Winter Holidays Season, SLDLP organized a new event targeting plastic pollution and supporting the underprivileged.
Volunteers gathered on selected beaches, to collect and sort out waste, with a special focus on plastic bottles (PET). The first mission was to encourage discussions about plastic pollution and available alternatives.
Additionally, SLDLP partnered for its 5th operation with V Cycle, a Hong Kong social enterprise, supporting the local community of waste pickers, mainly elderly with very low income. PET bottles collected on Nov. 25th were sent to V Cycle for recycling as part of its “ 10 Tons Challenge “.
